2. Inexperienced Australian bowling:
Several first choice bowling options are missing for the home side. Mitchell Starc is still recovering from an ankle injury while Pat Cummins is still recuperating from a stiff back. Nathan Coulter-Nile’s shoulder injury has kept him out while James Pattinson has been omitted. These bowlers were in the squad that played in England last year and won the series 3-2.
The 2 newcomers for the home team are Western Australia’s left-arm fast bowler Joel Paris and right-arm Victorian pacer Scott Boland. Another right-arm fast bowler Kane Richardson, who has only played 8 ODIs, is also a part of the 13-man squad. Nathan Lyon, Australia’s premier spinner in Test cricket and who is bowling brilliantly in the ongoing Big Bash League has been surprisingly left out. Josh Hazlewood, who has played just 15 ODIs, will spearhead an inexperienced attack. As per reports, Hazlewood will be rested after the first 2 ODIs. All in all one of the weakest bowling lineups for the home in years awaits team India.
