Shikhar Dhawan has been shown immense faith by the selectors. Not in that he has been picked in the squad – the argument against picking him would be only one fifty in his last 13 international innings – but in the fact that there are only 5 established specialist batsmen in the ODI squad. There is no back-up and he will know that it is high time he delivers the way in which he did in the World Cup.

Dhawan failed to impress against South Africa at home in the ODI series. Though, he got starts he failed to convert those into anything substantial. He will be eager to go hammer and tongs against a fairly new-look Aussie attack. He along with his opening partner Rohit Sharma will dictate terms to the opposition bowlers by making good use of the new ball and fielding restrictions.
