India is always known as a peaceful country with a rich tradition and several uncompromising values. In the past Indian skippers have followed the same dignity and they have been of a particular type. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni and even Rohit Sharma have been quite similar.

However, if we look at Kohli, he is different, he is more of an Aussie donning an Indian jersey. His aggression, his passion towards the game and his phenomenal ‘never say die’ attitude is inspirational but unusual. Indian fans have always looked up to their cricketing heroes as composed and generous human beings with great sportsmanship but they should not expect that from Kohli.

He is like a wrestler who will strangle his opponent until he taps out and that makes him a great competitor. If we remove that from him he won’t be as effective as he is. Thus, if fans understand how different their modern-day skipper is from the ones in the past, there can be a better equation. However, till then fans are ought to dislike him for not being the cliched ‘Indian Captain’.
