Mohammad Rizwan hit a brilliant century against South Africa in the first T20I of the 3-match series on Thursday. Pakistan were invited to bat first after losing the toss, and had a very poor start as they lost their captain Babar Azam for a duck in the very first over. Wickets kept falling for Pakistan at regular intervals, but Mohammad Rizwan kept scoring from the other end.

Rizwan scored the first century of his T20I career in this match, as he hit 104 runs off 64 balls. In his unbeaten knock, Rizwan hit 6 fours and 7 sixes as Pakistan put up a total of 169 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. In response, South Africa fought hard but they fell short by just three runs to concede an early lead in the series.

Let’s look at a list of milestones created by Mohammad Rizwan by his wonderful century:

1 – Mohammad Rizwan became the first wicket keeper from Pakistan to score a century in T20 Internationals. He also registered the highest score by a wicketkeeper from Pakistan in T20Is. Before him, Sarfaraz Ahmed had the highest score for a wicket keeper from Pakistan in the format. Sarfaraz had played a knock of 89 runs off 49 balls against Scotland in 2018.

2 – Mohammad Rizwan became just the second player from Pakistan to hit a century in all three formats in International cricket. Ahmed Shahzad is the only other player from the country to hit a century in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. These two are also the only players from Pakistan to hit a century in T20Is. In 2014, Shahzad had become the first player from Pakistan to hit a T20I century when he scored 111 runs off 62 balls against Bangladesh.

5 – Rizwan became the fifth wicket keeper in the world to hit a century in T20I cricket. The other wicket-keepers in this list are Brendon McCullum, Mohammad Shahzad, Morne van Wyk and Leslie Dunbar.

2 – Mohammad Rizwan became only the second keeper in the world after Brendon McCullum to hit a century in all three formats in International cricket. Rizwan had hit his first Test century against South Africa just 4 days back. In ODI cricket, he has 2 centuries to his name so far.
