4. Batting records for Scotland
Rahul Dravid representing Scotland is a much-spoken fact on the social media but the records he created in his stint with them has left a mark of his greatness. Dravid was signed as an overseas player by the Scottish team for the National Cricket League 2003 – England’s domestic One-Day Cup. Dravid aggregated 600 runs at an impressive average of 66.67 with three tons and two fifties across 11 matches he played in that tournament.
Dravid’s batting average for Scotland still remains the best for any player with at least 500+ runs in List A format and also in all professional cricket. Those 600 runs are still the most number of runs scored by any player for Scotland in a series/tournament in any format. Kyle Coetzer came close to breaking this record as he scored a total of 595 runs during the ICC WCL Championship between 2011 and 2013-14 seasons.
By the time Rahul Dravid scored three hundreds during the 2003 NCL, no other Scotland player had smashed more than one century in his career. However, Dravid doesn’t hold the record of most hundreds in career in any format for the Scotts. Another record which he created for Scotland in 2003 was the highest List A score for them of 129* against Nottinghamshire. There are eight individual List A scores of more than 129 runs for Scotland as of today.
