5 Retired cricketers who can still play international cricket: After serving their nations and entertaining the cricket lovers all around the world for years, a lot of cricketers called it a day to their professional cricket careers. These players have been living legends for the fact that they have given their all to the game. While some cricketers became a long lost name in the memories, there are others who we wish to see over and over again. Such is the limit of age that the performances do come down with growing grey hair. All cricket fans would love to see the likes of Sachin, Warne, Sehwag, Ponting, etc. take the center stage again; but alas they cannot play the same way now. But then there is another league of retired cricketers who can still play and perform in the same way. Here we list 5 Retired cricketers who can still play international cricket: 1. Saqlain Mushtaq: Saqlain Mushtaq. (© Getty Images) The inventor of the ‘Doosra’, former Pakistani spinner Saqlain Mushtaq was the mainstay of Pakistan bowling lineup. With 208 Test scalps and 288 ODI wickets, Saqlain has about 833 wickets in first-class cricket. He last played for Pakistan in 2004 against India. The off-spinner has a lot left in him, though. He recently showed his guile and accuracy while playing for the Warne’s Warriors in the All Stars T20 held in the United States. He picked up 2/12 and got the precious wicket of Sachin Tendulkar on an absolute gem of a delivery. He might not be a regular face on the field, but if he wishes to make a comeback, he certainly has a lot to offer to the game. 2. Andrew Symonds: Andrew Symonds. (© Getty Images) The former Aussie all-rounder retired from all forms of the game in October 2012 after having represented Australia in 198 ODIs and 26 Tests. Symonds is a key all-rounder and has been a vital cog in the wheel for the Australian team during his days. However, the 40-year old recently showed that he can still be quite effective with both bat and ball. Symonds, while playing for the Warne’s Warriors, picked up 8 wickets, the most in the All Stars T20 this year and also scored an effective total of 51 runs in 3 matches. Certainly, he was one of the most valuable players in the series. He is definitely one of those retired cricketers who can stage a comeback and play the same way as they did before. 3. Mike Hussey: Michael Hussey. (Photo Source: AFP) Mr. Cricket, as he is popularly known as, Michael Hussey is one of the best left-handed batsmen the world has ever seen. Hussey announced his retirement way back in 2012 citing personal reasons. But the southpaw continues to play the domestic leagues and is still entertaining the same way. He recently sparkled the Big Bash League opener by hitting an unbeaten 80 of 59 balls to take his side Sydney Thunder to a win. A couple of weeks earlier, the Aussie was in New Zealand playing the Georgie Pie Super Smash for Canterbury against Central Districts. He scored a vital 41 there. He was also phenomenal with his 56 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL this year. Clearly, Mike Hussey’s game hasn’t seen a dip in form and flair. If he plays again, he is all set to rule the roost! 4. Jacques Kallis: Jacques Kallis. A year later Kallis, the talismanic all-rounder who has over 13,000 Test runs and 292 Test wickets to his name, looks to be in the same touch. Playing for the Sydney Thunder in the BBL this season, he picked up 1/15 against the Sixers. Prior to the BBL, Kallis was seen in All Stars T20 where he rocketed the Warriors with a 45 in the second game to a win. Playing the Caribbean Premier League, earlier this year, Kallis, playing for the Red Steel, scored an unbeaten 61 against Tallawahs. It was an innings which showed pure class. 5. Perhaps it was the age factor that made him take the call. But age seems to be no limits for this elegant former Sri Lankan Skipper. He scored 4 centuries at the ICC World Cup this year. He had the scores of 41, 70 and 42 in the All Stars T20, where he ended as the leading run-getter. He received the Player of the Series award there. Playing in the BPL this season, he scored 349 runs in 10 matches to be the leading run-getter of the tournament. Having struck two half-centuries, with the best of 75 against Superstars, this former Sri Lankan skipper showed why he is termed one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He hit most boundaries in this season with 35 fours to his name. Well, he surely deserves to be the on the top of the list of retired cricketers who can still play the same way.
