2. Number of Test Matches played
In the winter of 1989, Sachin Tendulkar made his Test debut against a formidable bowling attack comprising of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan and Abdul Qadir. No one knew at that time the teenager would go on to play 200 test matches.
To get a perspective of how massive achievement this is, the second in the list is 168 by Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh. That’s a huge difference of 32 matches.
Virat Kohli may be the best batsman of this generation but in all likelihood, this is a record he won’t be able to break. The 31-year-old batting maestro has played 86 test matches so far and going by the international fixtures of the next few years, there’s a very little chance for him to even double it.
