5. Number of World Cup appearances
Playing international cricket in itself is a huge feeling but representing your country in a World Cup, the biggest stage is an altogether different emotion. Sachin Tendulkar has represented India in six World Cups– a record he shares with just one player– Javed Miandad.
Sachin Tendulkar got this opportunity for the first time in 1992 World Cup in Australia and then played the 1996 World Cup in India/Pakistan, the 1999 World Cup in England, the 2003 World Cup in South Africa/Zimbabwe, the 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean Islands and the 2011 World Cup in India/Sri Lanka/Bangladesh. His last appearance came at the Wankhede when India won the World Cup.
Virat Kohli made his World Cup debut against Bangladesh at Mirpur in 2011 and since then has participated in the 2015 World Cup in Australia/New Zealand and the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. If all goes well, he’ll play his fifth World Cup in 2027 and by then, his age will be 38. After that, it is highly improbable that he will wait for his sixth World Cup appearance.
