Cricket is a sport where various skills of an individual are put to test. Along with the talent and endurance, the hunger for success is required to have a long run. Even the mental strength plays a crucial part in making an ordinary player extraordinary one. Till now the game has seen various stars becoming superstars in their journey.

These legends help the game grow and they become national heroes for their contributions. When these players bid farewell a giant void is created in the cricketing space. In order to fill this void and continue their legacy, the throne is succeeded by their descendants. Most of the time these cricketers stay true to their surname but sometimes they fail to establish themselves like their seniors.

Here is the list of five sons of famous cricketers who weren’t successful

1. Sunny Gavaskar – Rohan Gavaskar

In the ’80s the cricket express was picking up steam on the Indian shores and the engine was controlled by Sunil Gavaskar. With his classic technique and textbook cricket shots, Little Master became one of the most accomplished batsmen of his times. He accumulated around 13,000 international runs which included 34 Test centuries. Gavaskar’s legacy was his resilience against the famed West Indies bowling unit.

For a cricketer who influenced many Indian youngsters to take up the game, Gavaskar was not able to guide his son, Rohan Gavaskar to great heights. Though he was constantly racking up good scores for Bengal in Ranji Trophy, the left-hander never made the leap to test cricket where his father thrived.

Due to his all-around abilities, Rohan was lucky enough to make the cut to the ODI team in the early 2000s. He played just 11 games for India which clearly shows that unlike his senior he lacked the temperament at the big stage.
