Sir Len Hutton holds a special place in the history of England cricket as he was the first professional cricketer of the 20th century to captain the Brits in Tests. He was the batting pillar of the country during the 1950s and his average of 57 in 79 games is the validation. Nobody can forget his innings of 364 against Australia where he surpassed Sir Don Bradman’s record score of 334. Hutton also guided the team to its first Ashes victory in 19 years when he led the side in 1953.

For all his contributions to the English cricket Len Hutton was knighted in 1956 and the fans hoped his next generation, Richard Hutton will carry the baton. In a couple of years, he was making headlines with his fiery spells for Yorkshire. After a long wait, he made his international debut in 1971 and scored a half-century while opening the innings.

Richard was not able not to hold his fort in the English side and ended up playing only 5 tests. He continued his heroics in county cricket where he picked up 625 wickets and piled 7,000 runs in 270 games but an international ticket eluded him.
