5 South African ODI players touring India for the first time: The Mahatma Gandhi–Nelson Mandela series is all set to hit the floors on 2nd October in what is anticipated to be the most invigorating bilateral series of the year. The South African side has played exceptional cricket on overseas tours in the past decade or so and has emerged as one of the strongest sides in the world. If he can handle Indian spinners and R Ashwin in particular who bowls exceptionally well against left-handed batsmen then he can make it big on this tour. (© Getty Images) The destructive South African southpaw Rilee Rossouw did take his time to settle down and justify his talent in the beginning but now with the passing time he is converting his prodigal talents into consistent runs. This tour will test his character and skills to the hilt as he will be playing in completely contrary conditions to what he is used to on fast tracks of South Africa. Playing at no.3 in the line-up, this meticulous batter has the ability to wreck any bowling attack on his day. Since the beginning of this year, Rossouw has played 17 matches and has hammered 681 runs at an average of 48.64 and would look to continue his merry run. 3. Farhaan Behardien: Farhaan Behardien. Till the previous series he was butt of many trolls and jokes as people were repeatedly scrutinizing his place in the side but his gritty performances against the Black Caps has certainly proved to his detractors that he is no mug with the bat. The right-handed batter averaged 41 in the 3 ODI match series and played two crucial knocks. Farhaan seems to be compact against spin and has the ability to accelerate in the slog overs which makes him a tough nut to crack for the hosts. 4. Chris Morris: Chris Morris. In the last 2 years, he has played only 7 matches but this tour presents him with the opportunity of finding his feet in the side. His experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will also help him immensely in the limited overs series against India. 5. Kagiso Rabada: Kagiso Rabada. Rabada has performed remarkably well this year and if he can take wickets in adverse conditions as well which are not conducive for pacers, he can emerge as the leader of South African pace attack as well in times to come. So far in his ODI career, Rabada has scalped 11 wickets in 5 matches at an average of 16.73 while in 6 T20Is he has 8 wickets to his credit.
