5 Supreme moments of the India – South Africa ODI series: After the T20I series finished India were in their senses and mindful of the challenge South Africa would posed to the hosts. They have always been a team which has done well on tour. Russell Domingo, the South African coach had said that they are here to win and they showed plenty of gumption in their resolve. India on the other hand despite securing inspiring wins in Indore and Chennai, looked the secondary team for the better part of the series. The Proteas can safely be argued are deserving holders of the ODI trophy for the Gandhi Mandela Freedom series.

The deciding match in Mumbai gave numerous exciting moments to the fans. South Africa eventually won the match by 214 runs and thus winning the series 3-2. We can make a list of five moments from the Mumbai ODI alone, But we have chosen a rather difficult task of pointing out the 5 best moments from the entire series which even the wisest of cricket pundits found hard to predict:

The sheer class of the South African ODI skipper came to the fore in the ODI series. Many were sounding skeptical after he failed to contribute substantially in the T20I series but look how he has silenced his critics. AB scored three majestic tons in the series and ended as the highest run scorer from both sides with 358 runs. A closer look at each game tell you the impact of all his centuries. In Kanpur South Africa looked like reaching 260 at best before he decided to take matters into his hand. His century came off just 73 balls as he hit a six off the last delivery.

In the context of the game this was what prevented India from overhauling the total. While Chennai to might have come in a loosing cause, it won’t be surprising if AB rates it as one of his best. The temperatures and humidity levels were scorching. But AB managed to overcome all that as others had no clue of the Indian spinners. But what would take the cake, simply because it helped South Africa clinch the series will be the Wankhede knock. He got to a blistering hundred off just 57 balls as South Africa batted the hosts out of the match.
