<p>The series was set up beautifully, and there could not have been a better place than Mumbai for the decider. And a run feast was on display in the first innings. De Cock started the act and AB finished it. Du Plessis like the other two also made a fantastic century. The total that visitors managed – 438/4 was the highest in an ODI game in India and also the overall highest against the hosts. For du Plessis the ton was the first of the series, for de Cock second and the third for AB.</p>
<p>The South African skipper was in no mood to relent as he scored 119 of just 61 balls. Quite interestingly, out of the 10 fastest tons for South Africa AB has nine to his credit. Once that score was put on the board, India were always on the backfoot and capitulated for just 224. This game will be remembered for a long time as not often do India get decimated in this fashion. Another reason being, this gave South Africa their maiden ODI series win in India.</p>

<p>MS Dhoni’s 92 might not rate among the highest individual scores of the series but its impact was absolutely vital in India staging an inspired comeback. They had lost six wickets for just 124 at Indore and were staring in the face of a below 200 total. Dhoni combined excellently with Bhuvneshwar and brilliant late order hitting ensured India managed 247, a fighting total.</p>
<p>South Africa courtesy brilliant bowling by the Indian tweakers fell 22 runs short. Another knock which makes the cut is Kohli’s 138 off 140 deliveries when the series was on the line. He batted like a champion and made sure South African fielders ran all round the Chidambaram stadium. AB de Villiers played out of his skins but despite his brilliant 112, India won by 22 runs and took the series to the decider.</p>
