5 Team India Players who might make their T20I debut on Ireland tour

With a bunch of candidates putting their hand up, it is going to be a task for the Indian selectors to pick a T20I squad for the Ireland series that is set to be played on June 26 and June 28, An ample of new faces emerged out of the recently concluded IPL 2022, and many players’ performances were really promising throughout the tournament. After yet another successful edition of the cash-rich event, some of the top performers got a chance to make a mark in the upcoming South Africa home series. It is surely a task for the selectors to pick a limited squad. The squad that is set to face Proteas still misses some of the players who were commendable throughout their stint but failed to make their place in the team. Now that the Indian senior team will be busy with their international commitments, a new team will be formed for the Ireland series which will be headed by VVS Laxman as head coach Rahul Dravid will be occupied with the senior members. Thus, there are high chances of the new faces receiving a maiden call-up and making their debut. There is also a chance that a few players picked in South Africa series might get their chance only in Ireland. Let us have a look at five players who can make a debut in the T20Is 1. But with the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel and Umran Malik also being part of the fast bowling contingent, he might have to wait for his chance at the highest level. Also, with Hardik Pandya expected to bowl, the hosts are likely to prefer only two specialist fast bowlers. As of now, looking at the squad, Bhuvneshwar and Harshal are the favourites to make it to the first XI. India might also prefer to unleash the pace of Umran Malik who set the stage on fire during IPL 2022. Hence, Arshdeep, who did extremely well, especially in the death over during IPL while playing for Punjab Kings might have to wait a little more to don the blue jersey. However, there is every possibility that he will make his debut in Ireland where India will miss a few more of their preferred players. 2. Rahul Tripathi Rahul Tripathi. He gave his best for his side and made a mark while batting in the top order by being a big support to Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson. He played some crucial knocks for the team and was one of the key reasons behind SRH’s five consecutive wins after the team lost the initial two games. It was disappointing news for not just the SRH fans, but the Indian cricket fans as Tripathi was not named in the squad. But with the senior players touring England, the VVS Laxman coached squad has high chances of witnessing players who did not get a chance in the Proteas series with Tripathi being one of them. Having been a consistent run-scorer in IPL, he will be one of the frontrunners for the short format series. 3. Tilak Varma Tilak Varma. When all other players, including the senior ones, failed to put up a competitive performance for the team, Varma took the responsibility to make his bat talk. Though MI won very few games in the league this season and ended up in the bottom-most position, they had a few players who performed consistently in all the games. Suryakumar Yadav’s absence was felt by the team in the initial stage, but Varma covered up the gap in the middle order. He ended up scoring 397 runs in his maiden IPL stint, in 14 games that he played, which included two half-centuries. The left-hander played multiple knocks under pressure and displayed composure with the bat. After making a mark at the IPL, he is one of the players who might receive a maiden call-up. 4. Abhishek Sharma Abhishek Sharma. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) The Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma impressed one and all with his power-hitting prowess. He consistently provided his side with the required momentum while opening innings and added the important runs in the powerplay. The young batter produced some powerful knocks in this year’s IPL and exhibited a good attitude every time he stepped out to bat. In the recently concluded season, he amassed 426 runs in 14 games and managed to score a couple of half-centuries. He also comes in as a handy bowler and can be utilized as the sixth bowling option if required. The Ireland series will be an opportunity for the selectors to find the future stars, and for the players to dream bigger and make their name in the international arena. 5. Mohsin Khan Mohsin Khan. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) Lucknow Super Giants found one of their best pacers in the form of Mohsin Khan. He was roped into the game when a couple of LSG bowlers were rested owing to injuries. But he made the best out of the opportunity and went on to seal a place in the team’s playing combination. Having played just 9 games in the IPL 2022, Khan bagged 14 wickets and produced some match-winning spells for his side as LSG made it to the playoffs in their very first season, and some credit surely goes to Mohsin Khan’s brilliance. While everyone hoped for Khan to make his debut in the South Africa series, he, unfortunately, missed out on a spot. But he was one of the standout performers this season, and there are high chances of him getting a place in the squad for the Ireland series.
