3. Two new Test playing teams – Afghanistan and Ireland

Test cricket was and still is the pinnacle format. The modern-day players value it a lot. Though the popularity of Test cricket has gone down we’ve got a couple of new entrants into the Test arena.

It was back in 2000 when Bangladesh became the 10th Test playing nation. 18 years later, two new teams entered the fray. Ireland and Afghanistan made their debuts in the longest formats and have played a couple of Test matches so far. While Ireland players actively took part in County cricket and have been around for a while, Afghanistan’s rise to the top has been a fascinating story.

Ireland have lost both their matches so far and Afghanistan lost their debut game before winning against Ireland a couple of months back.
