4. AB de Villiers announced his retirement
Often regarded as Mr. 360, Protea batter AB de Villiers displayed his charismatic capability to hit shots all around the park. With Kohli and Gayle, at the top, he served as the backbone of the RCB middle-order over the years.
AB announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in November 2021 and bid goodbye to the IPL as well. In the 2021 season, he garnered 313 runs at an average of 31.30, with the highest score of 76*.
In his IPL career spanning 184 matches, he amassed 5162 runs at an average of 39.71, with a strike rate of 151.69. He played for RCB from 2011 to 2021 and the Delhi Daredevils in the first three seasons.
