5 Times Virat Kohli was adjudged out controversially
Virat Kohli has certainly been unlucky on quite a few occasions.
4. India vs New Zealand, 2nd Test, 2021
In December 2021, India faced the challenge of New Zealand in a two-match Test series. Although the Indian team secured a 1-0 victory, the dismissal of Kohli was one of the most talked-about topics during the deciding match and even after the completion of the series.
In the second test at Wankhede Stadium, Kohli came at no. 4 after the fall of quick wickets of Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara. The Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel was beaming with confidence with consecutive wickets and followed the same plan to attack at Kohli’s pads to get his wicket. The then Indian captain managed to play out three balls but was given out on the fourth ball of his innings in an LBW dismissal.
Kohli was quite certain of having an inside edge before the ball got him in the pads, and reviewed it. Similiarly like his controversial dismissal in IPL 2022, the third umpire could not find enough evidence to rule out the decision made by the on-field umpire, despite the ultra-edge showing a spike as the ball passed through the bat.
