In the Match Four of the Asia Cup 2016, India got off to a bad start while chasing a total of 83 runs as Pakistan took three wickets in the first three overs. Then duo of Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh stitched a crucial partnership of 68 runs. But, Kohli was given out leg-before wicket off Mohammad Sami in the 15th over of the innings.

Replays of the delivery showed that Kohli had inside edged the ball on to his pad but the on-field umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge raised his finger. The right-handed batter was dismissed on a well-made 49 off 51 balls, which ensured the win of the Indian team. But, his actions after the dismissal were found to breach the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

Subsequently, he was fined 30% of his match fee for displaying dissent by initially showing his bat and then uttering some words at the umpire which does not fall in line with the spirit of the game.
