5. Rohit Sharma delivers a brutal statement to defend the Chepauk pitch

The Indian pitches are often the center of attention for foreign media outlets wherever countries like England and Australia tour the subcontinent, blaming the abject failure of their batters to tackle spin on the pitches.

The English team toured India back in 2021 and after a humiliating defeat in the second Test at Chepauk, former cricketers Michael Vaughan and Mark Waugh criticized the groundsmen for preparing a ‘minefield’. The then vice-captain Rohit Sharma spoke to the press in a virtual conference and gave a fitting reply to the detractors.

“When we go out, other countries don’t think about us, so why should we think about others. We should make pitches according to the preference of our team. This is what it means home and away advantage, otherwise, this should be taken out. Tell ICC to make a rule that pitches should be prepared the same everywhere,” Rohit blasted the critics with a fiery statement during the press conference.
