2. Faf du Plessis
Although Faf might be now on thin ice when it comes to representing South Africa, as far as his initial entry is concerned for playing T20Is, the right-hander had a prolonged wait. It was around the time of the 2011 World Cup when Du Plessis had started making its mark in international cricket and then next year in the 2012 IPL edition was bagged by CSK.
In that 2012 IPL, the South African represented CSK in a total of 13 matches and almost scored 400 runs (398) at an average of 33.16. With a healthy IPL stint, Faf then a few months later eventually made his T20I debut on that robust 2012 tour of England. Since then for South Africa, he has played a total of 50 T20Is and has 1528 runs at an average of 35.53. With his retirement from the longest format, the right-hander is now all set to further explore the realm of T20 cricket by participating in the global T20 leagues.
For CSK in a broader sense, his presence can be seen as a direct replacement of their legendary batsman Mike Hussey. In the last two seasons, he has also become an established overseas member of the franchise. All in all, during his initial years of international cricket at least in the T20Is, the cricketer did attain his cap mainly because of his vibrant debut in IPL 2012.
