The Punjabi boy; Mandeep Singh has been a consistent performer for his state side. But it was in this year’s IPL, when this brash young lad transformed his glimpses of talent into consistency and match winning performances for his franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He displayed his ardent skills as a man who could fight out the tough early phase of an innings and then accelerate in the slog overs with robust blows.

As far as Ranji-Trophy is concerned, he has played 79 innings and has compiled a tally of 3,201 runs at a healthy average of 45.

He could have been a perfect foil for the Indian team with his game tailor-made for the middle overs. He could have been tested at this tour and then groomed as a long term candidate at the number 5.
