The left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh made his debut in the 2019 edition and picked up three wickets in three appearances for Punjab Kings (PBKS). He followed it up with nine wickets in eight league matches in the subsequent edition and was gradually coming to his own. He had a terrific 2021 season with 18 scalps in 12 league matches at an economy of 8.27.

These performances helped him to be one of the two retained players by PBKS ahead of the 2022 season. Although he could pick only 10 wickets in 14 matches, he had a terrific economy of 7.70, as he put a brake on the opposition batters in the death overs.

Arshdeep’s yorkers in the death overs kept things tight from one end and helped the other bowlers to take wickets. Eventually, the selectors named him in the 15-member squad for the home series against South Africa. If given an opportunity, he would look to make it big and help the team to excel in crunch moments.
