5 uncapped players who might be released ahead of IPL 2020
A few under-performing uncapped players might face the axe from their respective IPL franchises.
4. Varun Chakravarthy
The spinner from Tamil Nadu stole the limelight when he was bought by Kings XI Punjab for a hefty amount of 8.4 crores. He was being touted as a bright prospect and an X-factor, mainly due to his multiple variations.
He played his debut match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, where he went for 25 runs in the very first over. He had a horrendous outing as he ended with the figures of 3-0-35-0. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old has not played in any game since then, with a finger fracture ruling him out of action.
In a team that consists of the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, he will never be the first choice. Releasing him ahead of IPL 2020 may help the Kings to strengthen their fragile batting order, which was the main cause of their downfall last time around.
