It was the evening of 4th April 2014. Virat Kohli had just played a magnificent knock of 74 runs against Bangladesh in the World T20 2014. The cricket pundits and fans were still in the hangover of that scintillating performance as another news popped up on the screens. England’s female cricketer Danielle Wyatt had proposed to Virat and asked him to marry her. She wrote, “Kholi marry me”.
The news spread like wildfire in the cricketing fraternity, however, it was later revealed that it was done in a fun way. “Ten minutes later, I picked my phone up and I have got 1000s of favourites and retweets, it’s all over Indian news, they’re emailing my dad at home,” Wyatt, who has been a self-proclaimed fan of Kohli since a long time, said after creating the havoc.
She later also revealed that the current Indian skipper, after this famous incident, told her that she cannot do things like that on social media sites like Twitter. He further explained that everyone takes such things pretty seriously and go for the literal meaning. Wyatt also told the media that she later apologized for the tweet.
