2) Carlos Brathwaite – Kolkata Knight Riders
There were plenty of problems that slowed down the Kolkata tram in the 2019 IPL. The two-time champions had an illustrious squad but things didn’t pan out according to their plans. Most importantly it was a one-man show which saved the grace of a disappointing campaign. The Purple team failed to play as a team in the entire sojourn.
What’s more disturbing was the below-par performances of senior members of the side including Carlos Brathwaite. The Caribbean star might be new to the KKR set-up but he is not a greenhorn when it comes to T20 leagues and that’s why he was snapped for a whopping amount of 5 crores. Surprisingly he only played two ties but in that also he looked a pale shadow of himself.
The former Windies skipper has always been used as a fill-in material in IPL and this time he was serving the same role for the Kolkata side. It seems Brathwaite has lost confidence in such situations so the KKR team should present him with more opportunities. He can efficiently accompany Andre Russell in the end-overs and if he gets going it will be tough for any bowling attack. He can also chip in with crucial breakthroughs with his nippy pace.
