3) Jaydev Unadkat – Rajasthan Royals
When a boatload of people start their journey without any planned destination in their mind then they are likely to reach a dead-end. The journey has a striking similarity with the Rajasthan team’s exploits in IPL 2019. Throughout the season they were unable to figure out their best XI from the available squad and also lacked proper planning in close encounters.
Mainly it was their pace battery which let down the team in crunch situations as their supposed bowling leader, Jaydev Unadkat was having nightmares on the field. The speedster managed only 10 wickets in 11 games. Further, his economy rate of 10.66 was more worrying. In the end, it seemed to be a major tactical error from the Royals camp to retain him for a mind-boggling figure of 8.40 crores.
The Indian domestic veteran has not enjoyed his stint with Pink team and unfortunately, it is his booming IPL salary which has not allowed him to play with freedom. Jaydev is a tough cookie and he will be eager to prove his critics wrong in IPL 2020. The franchise should give him another go as he has the experience to lead the bowling unit. Though they have Jofra Archer and Oshane Thomas in their ranks Unadkat has the variations to complement their zip.
