4) Heinrich Klaasen – Royal Challengers Bangalore
It’s an irony that the Bangalore team is the most popular franchise in IPL but they are yet to win a title in this competition. Every time they start their campaign with the notion that this time they have the artillery to win the battle. As it turns out they always head back to the drawing board after a poor season and it was no different in the 12th edition.
The Virat Kohli-led side is never short of exciting talents but most of them have failed to enhance the credibility of the Bold Army. Even in the last edition, a gifted player like Heinrich Klaasen became a liability for the Bangalore side. The keeper-batsman was a steal for 50 lakhs but he didn’t look comfortable in his stay. Also, the team used him for only 3 times and he could only muster 6 runs.
If RCB is going to follow the same template before the next IPL then Klaasen might find himself in the auction pool. That’s where they should be playing their cards smartly and retain the South African for the IPL 2020. Klaasen can be a reckoning force with his power game and he recently showcased his finishing skills against India A. He can be a reliable keeping option for the team as Parthiv Patel is running the last laps of his cricketing career.
