Watch: 5-year old 'Wonderkid' Rudra Pratap makes his debut for Delhi Under-14 side

Pakistan skipper Imran Khan once stated in an interview that he was a very worried man when a certain 16-year-old wonder kid called Sachin Tendulkar made his debut against Pakistan. There was no way one can expect a skinny lad who was barely over 5 and half foot face two young quicks called Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram. His fear was legit.

Most of the people had the same sort of uncomfortable feeling when Delhi U-14 team sent a five-year-old kid to bat against teenagers. The boy named Rudra Pratap, whose height was just as the same as the height of the stumps, today walked out in front of a sizeable crowd and made a pretty impressive cricketing debut.

India is a place of amazing talents. There is no shortage of such talents, especially batsmen. Sarfraz Khan, Armaan Jaffer and Prithvi Shaw are some of the names who rewrote massive batting records and grabbed the media attention. This list of prodigal talents today saw the induction of a 5-year-old kid.

Covered with oversized cricketing gears, Rudra walked into the ground to face the big boys without any signs of nervousness. While it was an amazing moment to witness such a cute little creature bat, there was also a slight insecurity when he took guard to bat. The opposition was perhaps not going to take it easy.

But, to everyone’s astonishment, he faced the first ball like a pro, a glance on the leg side off the leg-spinner. A normal kid of that age would have perhaps bowled around the legs on most occasions but he hit it nicely towards fine leg. He continued playing in the same way and another moment arrives when he perfectly defends a seamer, running in with full steam.

It was quite astonishing that he defended the ball solidly without losing his balance. At least the impact of the ball should have had any effect. But, there was none. On top of it, he knew which ball to play and which ones to leave. Also did not hesitate to take the lengthy runs call from the non-strikers end.
