The Karnataka-based opener Devdutt Padikkal has shown glimpses of his brilliance with the willow in the IPL. Representing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the current season, he blazed some extraordinary shots amassing 473 runs. Playing alongside the likes of Virat Kohli and Aaron Finch, it must have helped him to handle the pressure. For his incredible feat, he achieved the emerging player award in the 13th edition of the cricketing carnival.

Putting his name as a favourite in place of an injured opener, he may be seen in action donning the blues in the coming days. The BCCI top brass Sourav Ganguly apparently batted for Dev extending lavish praises for the southpaw.

If he consistently performs with the bat in the upcoming months, it is a no-brainer that the 20-year-old will don the national jersey and represent India in the coming World Cup 2021. The short-format specialist is a delight to watch especially against ruthless pacers. Reminding many of the heavyweight Yuvraj Singh, the fearless cricketer has got nothing to look back from now on.
