6 Bowlers who got their first wicket via DRS in international cricket

2. Solomon Mire (Zimbabwe)

Solomon Mire, Zimbabwean batting all-rounder who debuted in 2017, made it to the history books when he forced his way to the list of bowlers who scalped their maiden wicket with the help of DRS. For Mire, the first victim was West Indian batsman Kyle Hope. He made his debut in the same game as well.

Solomon made his debut in the first match of the Test series involving West Indies and Zimbabwe on 21 October 2017 at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. West Indies had called it right at the toss time and elected to bat first. Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieron Powell faced the opening music for West Indies.

Within no time, Windies lost their first wicket and in came Kyle Hope. The episode happened in the 17th over of the first innings of the match. Mire began his lap for the third delivery of the over and banged it in the uncertain channel outside off-stump. Kyle nicked it, and the wicketkeeper got hold of the catch. The Umpire rubbished the appeal, but Mire was too adamant and went upstairs.

The UltraEdge revealed a thick outside edge which meant Kyle had to take a long route back to the dugout. In the process, Mire became the only Zimbabwean bowler to have made it to the list.
