Shuvagata Hom, an occasional medium pace bowler from Bangladesh, etched his name in this unique list when he caught <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/non-stop-franchise-cricket-taking-toll-on-ageing-giant-chris-gayle/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chris Gayle</a> in front of the stumps in a Test match against West Indies. Hom made his debut in the same game.

The incident happened in the first Test of the series between Bangladesh and West Indies that kicked-off from 5 September 2014 at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown. Bangladesh had won the toss and elected to field first. Gayle and Kraigg Brathwaite opened the proceedings for West Indies.

It was the 40th over of the first innings of the game, and Gayle and Brathwaite were raring to go as they had already notched-up a 116-run partnership. Hom ran in for his first delivery of the over, and, with an intent to capitalize, Gayle tried to play a glory shot but missed it and ball went on to hit the legs which initiated a certain appeal.

However, the umpire Marais Erasmus turned it down and eventually Mushfiqur Rahim went for a review. DRS showed three reds which brought a bright smile on Hom&#8217;s face as he scalped his first Test wicket and Gayle was forced to make his way back to the pavilion.

Hence, Shuvagata Hom became one of the very few players to take his maiden wicket with the help of DRS.

Solomon Mire, Zimbabwean batting all-rounder who debuted in 2017, made it to the history books when he forced his way to the list of bowlers who scalped their maiden wicket with the help of DRS. For Mire, the first victim was West Indian batsman Kyle Hope. He made his debut in the same game as well.

Solomon made his debut in the first match of the Test series involving West Indies and Zimbabwe on 21 October 2017 at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. West Indies had called it right at the toss time and elected to bat first. Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieron Powell faced the opening music for West Indies.

Within no time, Windies lost their first wicket and in came Kyle Hope. The episode happened in the 17th over of the first innings of the match. Mire began his lap for the third delivery of the over and banged it in the uncertain channel outside off-stump. Kyle nicked it, and the wicketkeeper got hold of the catch. The Umpire rubbished the appeal, but Mire was too adamant and went upstairs.

Dimuth Karunaratne, Sri Lankan left-handed batting prospect, happens to be one of the rarest or per se the only Lankan cricketer to have taken his only Test wicket with the help of a DRS. Interestingly, it wasn&#8217;t a debut game for Karunaratne.

This very event unfolded in the second Test of the series between India and Sri Lanka on 4 August 2017 (2nd day of the game) at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/australia-vs-india-usman-khawaja-takes-a-screamer-to-send-virat-kohli-packing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Virat Kohli</a> knew which way the coin was to flip, and he elected to bat first. India ended Day 1 at 344 for three with Pujara and Rahane on the crease.

With the Indian batsmen settled on the crease, a surprise bowling change clicked the Sri Lankan captain. As a result, he handed over the red cherry to Karnunaratne to bowl the second over of the Day 2. Three reds, the review screen displayed, as the umpire had to overturn the decision in the way of Karunaratne.

One of the very few Indians to have featured in the list is Jayant Yadav. He made it to the list in his debut Test, which was the second Test of the series between India and England, at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam on 17 November 2016.

It was the 35th over of England&#8217;s first innings and 75th over of the second day. Jayant was ready to bowl with Moeen Ali at the striker&#8217;s end. The second Indian to have his name in the list is Shardul Thakur. The fast bowler from Maharashtra made his international debut in the 4th ODI of the bilateral series between India and Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on 31 August 2017.

Having won the toss, India chose to bat first. India posted a mammoth 375 in their quota of 50 overs. In reply, the hosts could only score 207 for the loss of ten wickets. The incident is when Shardul Thakur grabbed his maiden wicket via DRS and it unfolded in the 3rd over of Sri Lanka&#8217;s innings.

Niroshan Dickwella was on strike, and Thakur was about to bowl the fourth ball of the third over of Sri Lanka&#8217;s innings. Shardul banged it short on the leg-side as Dickwella tried to run it through fine leg. But, the ball brushed his glove and went straight to the hands of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/gautam-gambhir-clears-the-air-over-his-alleged-rift-with-ms-dhoni/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MS Dhoni</a> behind the stumps.

<h3>1. Shuvagata Hom (Bangladesh)</h3>

Shuvagata Hom, an occasional medium pace bowler from Bangladesh, etched his name in this unique list when he caught <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/non-stop-franchise-cricket-taking-toll-on-ageing-giant-chris-gayle/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chris Gayle</a> in front of the stumps in a Test match against West Indies. Hom made his debut in the same game.
The incident happened in the first Test of the series between Bangladesh and West Indies that kicked-off from 5 September 2014 at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown. Bangladesh had won the toss and elected to field first. Gayle and Kraigg Brathwaite opened the proceedings for West Indies.
It was the 40th over of the first innings of the game, and Gayle and Brathwaite were raring to go as they had already notched-up a 116-run partnership. Hom ran in for his first delivery of the over, and, with an intent to capitalize, Gayle tried to play a glory shot but missed it and ball went on to hit the legs which initiated a certain appeal.
However, the umpire Marais Erasmus turned it down and eventually Mushfiqur Rahim went for a review. DRS showed three reds which brought a bright smile on Hom&#8217;s face as he scalped his first Test wicket and Gayle was forced to make his way back to the pavilion.
Hence, Shuvagata Hom became one of the very few players to take his maiden wicket with the help of DRS.
<h3>2. Solomon Mire (Zimbabwe)</h3>

Solomon Mire, Zimbabwean batting all-rounder who debuted in 2017, made it to the history books when he forced his way to the list of bowlers who scalped their maiden wicket with the help of DRS. For Mire, the first victim was West Indian batsman Kyle Hope. He made his debut in the same game as well.
Solomon made his debut in the first match of the Test series involving West Indies and Zimbabwe on 21 October 2017 at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. West Indies had called it right at the toss time and elected to bat first. Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieron Powell faced the opening music for West Indies.
Within no time, Windies lost their first wicket and in came Kyle Hope. The episode happened in the 17th over of the first innings of the match. Mire began his lap for the third delivery of the over and banged it in the uncertain channel outside off-stump. Kyle nicked it, and the wicketkeeper got hold of the catch. The Umpire rubbished the appeal, but Mire was too adamant and went upstairs.
The UltraEdge revealed a thick outside edge which meant Kyle had to take a long route back to the dugout. In the process, Mire became the only Zimbabwean bowler to have made it to the list.
<h3>3. Dimuth Karunaratne (Sri Lanka)</h3>

Dimuth Karunaratne, Sri Lankan left-handed batting prospect, happens to be one of the rarest or per se the only Lankan cricketer to have taken his only Test wicket with the help of a DRS. Interestingly, it wasn&#8217;t a debut game for Karunaratne.
This very event unfolded in the second Test of the series between India and Sri Lanka on 4 August 2017 (2nd day of the game) at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/australia-vs-india-usman-khawaja-takes-a-screamer-to-send-virat-kohli-packing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Virat Kohli</a> knew which way the coin was to flip, and he elected to bat first. India ended Day 1 at 344 for three with Pujara and Rahane on the crease.
With the Indian batsmen settled on the crease, a surprise bowling change clicked the Sri Lankan captain. As a result, he handed over the red cherry to Karnunaratne to bowl the second over of the Day 2. The results were quick enough as Karunaratne caught Pujara in front of the stumps off the last ball of the over. Richard Illingworth turned it down, and with high hopes Sri Lanka reviewed it. Three reds, the review screen displayed, as the umpire had to overturn the decision in the way of Karunaratne.
Thus, having grabbed Pujara in the very second over of the day, Dimuth Karunaratne heaved his way into this unique list.
<h3>4. Jayant Yadav (India)</h3>

One of the very few Indians to have featured in the list is Jayant Yadav. He made it to the list in his debut Test, which was the second Test of the series between India and England, at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam on 17 November 2016.
Yadav had his name in this unique list on the second day of the Test match when India had already batted, and England were midway in their first innings. It was the 35th over of England&#8217;s first innings and 75th over of the second day. Jayant was ready to bowl with Moeen Ali at the striker&#8217;s end. Yadav took strides for the second delivery of the over as Ali ran down the pitch and yorked himself with the ball hitting him on the legs.
Virat Kohli and Yadav made a confident appeal, but it got turned down by the umpire. Kohli was quick to take the matter to the third umpire as he reviewed the decision, and eventually, the DRS screen showed three reds as Kohli took a sigh of relief while Yadav passed a wry smile and thanked DRS for his maiden Test.
<h3>5. Shardul Thakur (India)</h3>

The second Indian to have his name in the list is Shardul Thakur. The fast bowler from Maharashtra made his international debut in the 4th ODI of the bilateral series between India and Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on 31 August 2017.
Having won the toss, India chose to bat first. India posted a mammoth 375 in their quota of 50 overs. In reply, the hosts could only score 207 for the loss of ten wickets. The incident is when Shardul Thakur grabbed his maiden wicket via DRS and it unfolded in the 3rd over of Sri Lanka&#8217;s innings.
Niroshan Dickwella was on strike, and Thakur was about to bowl the fourth ball of the third over of Sri Lanka&#8217;s innings. Shardul banged it short on the leg-side as Dickwella tried to run it through fine leg. But, the ball brushed his glove and went straight to the hands of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/gautam-gambhir-clears-the-air-over-his-alleged-rift-with-ms-dhoni/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MS Dhoni</a> behind the stumps.
The Indian wicketkeeper went up straight away, but the umpire put down Dhoni&#8217;s claim. Dhoni seemed sure, and thus Kohli decided to take a review. And once again, Dhoni was spot on as the UltraEdge showed a faint spike which forced Dickwella to leave the crease. As a result, Thakur got his maiden international wicket with the help of DRS.
<h3>6. Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)</h3>

The Afghanistan bowling all-rounder also has this record up against his name. Rashid forced his name into the list in his debut Test match against India. Afghanistan played their maiden Test against India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 14 June 2018.
<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/australia-vs-india-ajinkya-rahane-is-using-a-special-bat-for-the-test-series/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ajinkya Rahane</a>, the stand-in skipper in the absence of Kohli, won the toss and elected to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay opened the proceedings for India. Dhawan also went on to become the fastest Indian to score a century before lunch on the first day.
The very incident took place in the 67th over of Day 1 of the only Test between India and Afghanistan. The Afghan bowling all-rounder had the SG Test ball in his hands while Rahane was on strike. He ran in with his fierce action and dropped it short which caught Rahane in splits as the ball hit his back thigh in front of the middle-stump.
The right-arm leg-break bowler went up very hard as he desperately wanted his maiden Test wicket. Soon, the appeal was subdued by the umpire as he thought it was too high. After a brief discussion with <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/rashid-khan-tweets-for-ms-dhoni-after-playing-the-helicopter-shot-cricketing-fraternity-reacts/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rashid Khan</a>, Asghar Stanikzai went upstairs for a review.
DRS showed that the ball was crashing onto the stumps and the umpire had to overturn the decision. Rashid took a sigh of relief as he grabbed his maiden Test wicket in the most climactic way possible after toiling hard for it.
