6 Prospective Coaches for the Indian Cricket Team: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to decide and pick the new Coach for the Indian Cricket Team. Tenure of the former Indian coach Duncan Fletcher ended along with the team’s campaign at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. The BCCI bosses were sharp enough to get the players accustomed to Sanjay Bangar as the assistant coach along with bowling coach B Arun and Ravi Shastri as the Team Director, all of whom are Indians and are expected to carry on in case the Board decides to stretch the finalization of the name for a few months. Since Duncan’s contract has ended, and the Men In Blue are all set to get a new head coach, we decided to take a look at the 6 Prospective Coaches that might be picked to take up the role. 1. A few months ago at a lecture Dravid was asked the same question and he said he would love to coach the Indian team and was just waiting for the right time to come. So we guess the time has come indeed. 2. Sanjay Bangar: The assistant coach of the Indian cricket team Sanjay Bangar could well be appointed as the new Head Coach. (© Getty Images) Sanjay Bangar was attached with the Indian team in order to cut down the role of Duncan Fletcher and to study, assess and report the culture and atmosphere developed by the Zimbabwean in the dressing room. His inspiring stint as the coach of the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL, which saw the team reach the finals only to remain runners-up behind KKR earned him the reputation of being a good team builder. Bangar was always appreciated as a cricketer and since he proved his mettle behind the scenes he is a frontrunner to grab the Head Coach’s Job. 3. Stephen Fleming: Fleming needs no certificate to prove how well he has done with the CSK team. (© Getty Images) We all know the influence, and command the Indian ODI skipper MS Dhoni has not only in terms of the team that is picked but also for other interests relating to the team. This former New Zealand skipper has been working closely with the man at the CSK and the two now share quite a bond, they not only complement each other but respect their jobs as well. Fleming needs no certificate to prove how well he has done with the CSK team and his relation with the India and Chennai skipper might well give him the decisive edge past others. 4. Sachin Tendulkar: It is every cricket fans dream to watch Sachin Tendulkar as the coach of India. (© Getty Images) Who does not want to see this man back in the India colors? If not as a player, fans are praying hard that Sachin takes up the responsibility of handling the team as their coach. He will not even need to wait for the decision, it is just the matter between him being open to take it up and there won’t be a second thought. Sachin has always maintained that he would continue to contribute to the team in any manner possible. All it needs is for the Mentor of the Mumbai Indians to ring up the BCCI and state that he is willing to head the affairs. 5. Sourav Ganguly: Sourav Ganguly is a front runner to be selected as the coach of the Indian team. (© Getty Images) Speculations grew ripe on Thursday that Sourav met his CAB associate and the new BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya to propose his name for the job. Though Ganguly came out and quashed it saying “I am hearing this for the first time,” one cannot deny the fact that when the Board will sit down and pen the names that should possibly be handed over the command of the team, Ganguly will make it to the top. The influence and impact his personality has along with the tons of experience he has earned through his cricket will prove invaluable for the team and we all know what type of leader he was. Just the thought that the team might well be too full of aggression with two swords in a sheath, can go against the Joint Secretary of the CAB. 6. Mike Hussey: It is believed that MS Dhoni recommended Mike Hussey as the new coach for Indian team. (© Getty Images) Surprised? So were we when Mike Hussey’s name first propped up while reports appeared that the Indian captain had suggested Hussey to be considered to replace Duncan. He looked overwhelmed at that moment with his name being brought up he said, “It’s so flattering that MS would think of me as the next coach of the Indian team.” But the fact that he is still an active cricketer playing T20 leagues including the IPL and also that the Indian team has had a burning experience with an Australian coach (Greg Chappell) in the past might go against him.
