Rovman Powell was unheard before he was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in the auction. He grabbed the attention of the IPL talent scouts when he smashed a 45-ball 95 in a semi-final for Jamaica in the domestic circuit of West Indies and that won him the contract as well.

Powell is known for his hard hitting and is compared with the likes of Carlos Brathwaite, Dwayne Bravo and other big hitters. He was picked up for 30 lakhs, his base price by KKR.
