India is currently in South Africa playing the first Test of the three-match series at Newlands in Cape Town. The game is tantalisingly poised after two days as the fans were upbeat for the high-profile series to begin. Cricket is followed immensely in India and it is literally considered as a religion with the players are no less than god for their fans. Though, the fan-following sometimes gets so crazy and has touched a new low after Virat Kohli failed to make a mark in the first innings against the home side.

After bowling South Africa out for 286 on the first day, the visitors were reduced to 28/3 as the skipper Kohli was also dismissed for just 5 runs. He once again fell into the trap chasing a harmless delivery outside the off-stump and edged it to the wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock. His fans and the entire Indian team were shocked after the highest run-getter in 2017 in Tests did not play a big knock in Cape Town.

Shocking incident in Ratlam

The die-hard fan of Virat Kohli, Babulal Bairwa, attempted a suicide by putting petrol on his body. The 63-year-old was spotted burning by his wife first and was taken to the nearby hospital straightaway. But he was severely burnt until then. His face and head affected the most along with his hands while attempting to put out the fire according to the reports in Amar Ujala.

The reports of suicide attempts due to the disappointing performance of the team is not new in India. Earlier, people have attempted to sacrifice their lives after the Men in Blue were thrashed out of ICC Cricket World Cup in 2007. They had lost to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the group stage and had failed to qualify for the Super Eight round of the competition.

Coming back to the ongoing Test match, Hardik Pandya revived India’s innings after being reduced to 92/7. He played an aggressive knock of 93 off just 96 deliveries and propelled the visiting team to 209 only 77 behind of South Africa’s total.
