Playing in his 100th Test against England, played at Antigua Recreation Ground, St John’s, Antigua, between 12th and 16th April 1990, Gordon Greenidge, opening the innings along with Desmond Haynes (167), went on to score 149 runs with the help of 18 fours and 3 sixes, facing 207 deliveries. In the process, the duo put on 298 runs partnership for the first wicket.

As a result of this huge partnership, West Indies put up a mammoth total of 446 runs in their first innings and took a crucial lead of 186 runs over England. They were also successful in restricting England to 154 runs in their second innings and went on to win the match by an innings and 32 runs.
