India celebrated its 75th Independence Day on Monday, August 15. Meanwhile, several Indian cricketers took to social media websites to extend their best wishes on August 15, 2022.
The likes of Hardik Pandya, Virender Sehwag, Wasim Jaffer, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan, among other Indian cricketers, shared tweets on their official Twitter handle to wish the nation a happy Independence Day. Not only Indian players but international stars like David Warner, Darren Sammy, and Lisa Sthalekar wished the people of India.
Earlier, several team India players, including former Indian skipper MS Dhoni changed their display picture to tricolour on social media platforms to support the union government’s campaign “Har Ghar Tiranga”, with Prime Minister Narendra urging the nation to hoist the tricolour at their homes and also change display pictures on social media to the tricolour.
Meanwhile, team India is gearing up to face Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series starting on August 18 (Thursday). The Men in Blue will be led by star player KL Rahul, with senior batter Shikhar Dhawan acting as his deputy. Prominent all-rounder Deepak Chahar has also made a comeback to the Indian side, and he will want to perform well too.
After the series against Zimbabwe is completed, the India squad will face arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening encounter of the 2022 T20 Asia Cup in UAE. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced the squad for the tournament, and team India will want to win the competition before they move forward with another important cricketing event.
Team India will reach Australia to play the 2022 T20 World Cup slated to be played in October this year. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue will want to win the prized trophy.
