Indian star batsman Ajinkya Rahane backed his limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni saying that he had a lot more to offer despite missing out in the first T20 international match against West Indies last week.
The match saw West Indies post a huge total of 245 at Florida in the first match of the two-match T20I series, on the back of a century from their opening batsman Evin Lewis (100 off 49 balls). However, the target of 246 was never an impossible one for the strong Indian batting line-up on the flat track at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill.
Despite losing Ajinkya Rahane early, Rohit Sharma played a handy knock of 62 and KL Rahul brought up his first century in T20 international cricket to take India close to the target. However, it was down to 2 runs to win from the last ball and the Indian skipper MS Dhoni at the crease. Dhoni failed to finish on a high as he was caught at short third-man.
After the loss, there was a lot of criticism saying that the skipper had lost his finishing touch, but Rahane has no doubt that Dhoni still remains to be one of the best finishers in the world. “MS Dhoni is one of the best finishers in the world. We all know that. Nine times out of 10 he will win these matches. Everyone was disappointed after the loss but we gave our best. Even Dhoni Bhai gave his best. It happens sometimes in sport.”

Rahane pointed out that Dhoni was also disappointed that he couldn’t win it for the team. “Nobody likes to lose. He has won all these games for us. He was also very disappointed that we could not win,” Rahane concluded.
