Appointment of Anil Kumble as the coach of the Indian team has received a positive feedback from all quarters. He was selected from a whole lot of 57 applications for the high profile job. 21 candidates were shortlisted later and at the end, it came down to Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri.

After Duncan Fletcher’s contract had expired following the ICC World Cup in 2015, the post of head coach was left vacant with Shastri being appointed team director, and he had a good stint with the team until the World T20 2016.
