Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is indeed one of the finest cricketers ever and his achievements speak volumes of his prowess. During his illustrious international career, the wicketkeeper-batsman took Team India to several memorable wins across formats with his brilliance both in front and behind the stumps. The talismanic cricketer was also instrumental in taking India to title in the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy.
Besides money and fame, Dhoni also earned a lot of fans with his brilliance over the 22 yards. One such die-hard MSD fan recently come all the way from his village in Haryana to Ranchi in Jharkhand to meet his idol. The fan named Ajay Gill claimed to have walked for 16 days since July 29 to cover over 1,400km from his village to reach Dhoni’s residency in Ranchi.
“Dhoniji se mil ke hi ghar lautunga (I will return home only after I meet Dhoni),” the 18-year-old was quoted as saying by Telegraph India. Ajay said that the talismanic wicketkeeper-batter would spare at least 10 minutes for him as he came from so far and that too by walking.
Fan from Haraya showcases his love for MS Dhoni
Notably, by the time Ajay reached Ranchi, Dhoni was in Chennai to fly to Dubai on Friday for the resumption of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. However, the fan was adamant to wait for the 40-year-old even when he was told that his idol would return after about three months.
Meanwhile, Ajay works at a saloon in his village. He also drew a lot of attention with his intriguing looks. He had coloured his hair yellow, orange, dark blue, and light blue alongside carving “Dhoni” and “Mahi” on his head. “A fellow barber from Sonepat did it for free when he found me walking towards Ranchi and learnt about my purpose. I’ll also get it signed by Dhoniji,” Ajay said waving the Tricolour he was carrying.
On being asked about his purpose of visit, the fan said claimed that he once aspired to be a cricketer but stopped playing after Dhoni’s international retirement last year. However, he now wants to make a fresh start with the legendary cricketer’s blessings. After knowing about the case, a native named Anuraj Chawla along with his friends took Ajay to a hotel room and also gave him a Delhi-bound flight ticket. “We are impressed that he walked all the way from Haryana but convinced him to return now and come again later,” said Anurag.
