Lionel Messi’s nearly a two-decade-old association with Barcelona ended recently and the talismanic footballer is now a free agent. The Argentina international was a part of the Spanish club since the start of his professional career in 2004. He even enjoyed a sensational run with the Catalan Giants and guided the team to numerous memorable triumphs. However, the pair made in heaven is no more as Messi and Barcelona have decided to parted ways.

With Messi being one of the most celebrated footballers ever, many teams across different competitions would be raring to sign him. However, only football clubs are not behind the former Barcelona captain. Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals, jokingly although, has also offered Messi to don the Pink jersey and play for them. It all started after a Twitter user asked RR to give the 34-year-old a contract.

RR planning to sign Lionel Messi?

“Planning to sign messi? Coz he is free agent now,” wrote the netizen. Responding to this, the Jaipur-based team came up with epic post which left fans in splits. The Rajasthan Royals admin had messaged Messi on Instagram, asking him to join the inaugural IPL champions. “Khamma Ghani, Messi sa. Padharo mhare des? (Greetings Messi, please come to our land),” read the message.

The RR admin shared the screenshot of the same, captioning it: “Koshish jaari hai (Effort is on).” Fans were left in splits after coming across the antics as the comment section got flooded in no time. With Messi playing football and IPL being a cricket competition, Rajasthan Royals’ association with the Argentina international is highly unlikely. However, this doesn’t stop the RR admin from entertaining fans.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals blew hot and cold in the first of IPL 2021. With three wins in seven games, the Sanju Samson-led side was fifth in the team standings at the time of season suspension. Hence, they need to win at least five of their remaining eight games to make a place in the playoffs without any hassle. Notably, the marquee competition will resume in September in UAE and the Men in Pink would be raring to put up a better show.
