The two-year-long World Test Championship has now boiled down to India and New Zealand fighting for the illustrious Test match on the reserve day at the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton. Apart from the temperament and character showed by India and Kiwi players, what makes the WTC final more special is the emotional involvement of the fans.
A video from the reserve day has gone viral on social media where a cricket fan can be seen involved in a hilarious yet sad instance. The clip is from the 50th over of India’s second batting innings. Before the lunch on the reserve day, India was going strong with Rishabh Pant and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane forming a crucial partnership in the middle.
Rahane showed signs of brilliance during the start of his innings as he gave a glimpse of some attractive strokeplay. The Indian fans present in the stadium were hoping for a big inning from the vice-captain. However, on the last ball of the 50th over, Rahen marched back to the pavilion after losing his wicket to Trent Boult.
Meanwhile, a video from Rahane’s dismissal has become a talking point on social media among cricket enthusiasts. The clip features a bunch of Indian fans showing their excitement and cheering for the Test vice-captain.
However, just when a fan was posing for the camera, he saw the dismissal of Rahane and there was a sudden change in his reaction as he made a gloomy face. The quick transition of a cricket fan from being happy to sad left the social media in splits as it caused a meme fest on the micro-blogging site.

Ajinkya Rahane lost his wicket to Trent Boult
Meanwhile, the dismissal of Rahane broke many hearts as it diminished the hopes of India winning the match. India already lost the services of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli courtesy, Kyle Jamieson, early on the reserve day while Boult bowled a spectacular delivery to send the vice-captain back to the pavilion.
Rahane could score just 15 runs in 40 balls. At lunch, India was reeling at 130 for five with Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja playing at 28 and 12 respectively.
