Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has opined that the player involved in Yuzvendra Chahal’s allegations should be banned for life and not be allowed to take the cricket field again. Chahal had recently revealed that during his early days with the Mumbai Indians almost a decade ago, he was hung from the 15th-floor balcony by a drunk player at the time. The leg spinner was reluctant to reveal the name of the person who had done that.

Although Chahal told the story on a funny note, the matter has been taken up seriously by cricket experts and a lot of opinions have come in from various parts of the world. The 31-year-old had moved to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014 and played under Virat Kohli, where he reaped a lot of rewards until last year. He wasn’t retained before the IPL 2022 mega auction and is plying his trade for the Rajasthan Royals this season.

Let him not come to the cricket field again: Ravi Shastri

Shastri, in a panel discussion, had said that the person who was involved in Chahal’s allegations would have been banned for life and taken into rehabilitation if the matter had happened today. He added that the person involved will realise if the incident was funny or not, only if he isn’t allowed to take the field again.

“If it happens today? Life ban for the person involved, it’s as simple as that and send him to a rehab centre as quickly as possible. A life ban, let him not come to the cricket field again. Then he will realise how funny it is or not funny! ,” Shastri told ESPNcricinfo.

Besides this incident, Chahal, on the RCB podcast earlier this year, had also revealed that Andrew Symonds and James Franklin, who were in a drunk state, tied him up in a room with his mouth taped during his stint with the Mumbai Indians in 2011.
