A PSL franchise posts a distasteful tweet on Jasprit Bumrah; an Indian fan gives a fitting reply

The coronavirus has become quite serious in several parts of the world. In this time, many influential people or organizations are trying to spread awareness regarding social distancing. Islamabad United, a franchise of Pakistan Super League (PSL), tried to do something similar. But, the franchise opted to do in a distasteful manner. An Indian fan gave a perfect reply to the franchise which didn’t even prompt a reply from the Pakistani franchise.

The official Twitter handle of Islamabad United posted a tweet trying to make everybody aware of social distancing so that everybody stays home. The message on the tweet was that one should not cross the line as it could be costly. It also advised people to stay at their homes by maintaining a physical distance. However, they had uploaded it with the picture of Jasprit Burmah’s infamous no-ball which he had bowled during the final of the Champions Trophy 2017.

The savage response from the Indian fan shuts down Islamabad United by their Bumrah tweet 

In that match, Burmah had got Fakhar Zaman, the Pakistani opener, out early when the batsman nicked the ball to the keeper. However, when the third umpire checked, it showed that the Indian pacer had overstepped. This turned out to be a huge turning point in that match. Zaman went on to score a match-winning century in that final and Pakistan won the match as well.

The tweet by Islamabad United read, “Don’t cross the line. It can be costly, Don’t leave your homes unnecessarily, MAINTAIN PHYSICAL DISTANCE but make sure your hearts remain close. #UnitedAgainstCovid19”

The tweet did not go down well with an Indian fan. The fan saw this picture and had a perfect response to the Islamabad United franchise. He uploaded a picture of Mohammed Amir’s infamous no-ball in the Lord’s Test against England in 2010. He uploaded the picture with the caption saying that everyone should stay inside and stay safe or they could face 5 years of prison.

This was a sly dig on Mohammad Amir’s unfortunate incident of spot-fixing back in 2010. During the test match in 2010, Amir had bowled a huge no-ball which seems suspicious at that moment. After investigation, it was found that Amir was involved in spot-fixing and was told by bookies to bowl that no-ball.

Due to the spot-fixing incident, the left-arm pacer was banned from international cricket for 5 years. The young fast bowler from Pakistan also had to spend some time in jail during this time. In fact, it was only in 2016 when Amir returned to cricket.
