Former cricketers Aakash Chopra and Dean Jones were involved in a twitter battle with both predicting the outcome of the upcoming 4 match series between India and Australia. Akash Chopra expected Bangladesh to be a tougher opponent than Australia especially in these conditions but the former Aussie batsman Dean Jones replied almost immediately saying that India should be wary of the Aussie and should employ a cautious approach.

On the opening day of the Test between India and Bangladesh, a fan tweeted, “Count Bangladesh out at your own peril. This could be more exciting than we all might think. What’s your take? @cricketaakash #IndvsBan.

Chopra who is part of the commentary crew for the ongoing Test replied with, “I’m expecting Bangladesh to be more competitive than Australia in these conditions. If this explains @StarSportsIndia”. Jones responded to Aakash and wrote, ”Be afraid Aakash… be very afraid…”

Team India is currently playing Bangladesh in the one-off Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad but looking at the broader picture, India’s bigger aim will be to prepare themselves for the 4 match Test series against Australia.

Despite Australia’s lacklustre performance in subcontinental conditions off late, it was pretty surprising that Chopra thought Bangladesh was a more competitive team than Australia in these conditions. It surely didn’t go down well with Dean Jones as he feels Australia will pose a big threat to India.

Relatively new to the team, Matt Renshaw is seeking advice from Matthew Hayden who has been very successful in Indian conditions. Renshaw said that Haydn has told him to enjoy the tour in India and gain as much experience as possible which will be very beneficial in the future tours.

Another newcomer Peter Handscomb feels that the to success in India will be to trust one’s defence. He feels if one has a sound defence he can counter the spin threat of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
