Former Indian opener and commentator is back again with his expert analysis and opinions. Recently he picked the best XI of IPL 2020 to form his hypothetical team, and this time, it is all about batters. Chopra has chosen the top six batsmen from the recently concluded season of IPL as per their performance. And yet again, some big names have failed to make it to his list. Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and even Mayank Agarwal are out of his list.
He did the exercise on his YouTube channel and started with Mr 360 AB de Villiers for the sixth position. He pointed out that Proteas player has been one constant man behind the success of RCB this year. De Villiers played a great role to play in RCB qualifying for playoffs. He was even considering Kohli and Mayank for this slot but chose to go with South African genius.
“At No.6, I was considering Mayank Agarwal and Virat Kohli, but I am going with AB de Villiers. Some people have also questioned what sort of genius he is when he cannot win the tournament. But that is not his job. He has won the most ‘Man of the Matches’ for RCB since 2018, most Man of the Matches this year, and won the most matches single-handedly,” he said in his video.
He chose to go with class batter Suryakumar Yadav for the 5th position. His absence in the Indian squad for the Australia tour is being questioned by all the experts around the world, and he has been lauded by many cricket experts. Chopra decided to go with power hitter Ishan Kishan for his 4th slot. His big shots, despite his mini-figure, impressed the commentator a lot.
SRH skipper David Warner, who scored more than 500 runs in six consecutive seasons got Chopra’s vote for the third slot. Shikhar Dhawan’s two straight ton has impressed all the people, and he landed on the second spot in this list. The top slot was held by one and only, the Orange Cap winner of the season, KL Rahul.
“At No.1, I have picked KL Rahul. His team did not go ahead, but if you go so far ahead in the league stage, then it means you have done something special. The 69-ball 132* against RCB was one of the finest innings we have seen in the tournament,” Chopra Concluded.
