Aakash Chopra slams a Twitter user who made fun of the foul language used in the name of mother and daughter while praising Rahul Tewatia
Tewatia's innings will be remembered for a long time.
It was a perfect end to a weekend in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) pulled off a sensational heist to chase down the highest score ever in the cash-rich league. The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) had earlier posted 223 runs for the loss of two wickets, after being invited to bat first, thanks to Mayank Agarwal‘s 45-ball century. However, the Royals made light work of the chase as they won with three balls and four wickets to spare.
Sanju Samson and Steve Smith took the lead early on to keep up with the asking rate. Their partnership of 81 runs for the second wicket kept the Royals in the chase and at one stage, they were ahead as well. However, after the RR skipper got out in the ninth over, to everyone’s surprise, Rahul Tewatia walked out ahead of Robin Uthappa.
While the move seemed to be a distaster at one stage, the turnaround in the latter stage of the innings stunned literally everyone. Rahul Tewatia, after struggling for the most part of his innings, managed to helped the team chase down the total. Within a span of minutes, he turned from villain to hero and ever the Twitterverse, which was literally slamming him, began praising him.
One of the Twitter users, while showering praises on the cricketer, stated how Tewatia was at the receiving end of the foul language in the name of mother and daughter. However, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra gave him a befitting reply while asking him why people are abused always in the name of mother and daughter and not father and brother.
Moreover, Chopra also asked him not to promote such language and on the day, when the world celebrated the Daughter’s Day.
Here’s the convo:
Rahul Tewatia’s memorable heist
The decision to promote Tewatia seemed to have gone against the team when the southpaw was immensely struggling to even put bat to ball. He was at 8 off 19 deliveries at one stage and the required run-rate had shot beyond reach for the Royals. It goes without saying that all the commentators, experts and the fans were slamming the batsman and wanted him to get out in whichever way possible.
But what happened after the 17th over of the innings was beyond imagination for everyone. Rahul Tewatia redeemed himself to slam five sixes off Sheldon Cottrell‘s 18th over and helped the team get over the line in one of the most sensational turnarounds in cricket ever.
