Aaron Finch shares picture of his old bats from his 'dad's shed'

Australia’s limited-overs captain Aaron Finch had a rollercoaster year in 2021. The initial half of the year saw him struggling largely with the bat. As he was short of runs, many fans and experts even wanted him out of the playing XI. However, the veteran cricketer silenced his critics by taking Australia to their maiden T20 World Cup triumph in November.

As the Aussies are currently battling it out with arch-rivals England in Ashes 2021-22 and Finch isn’t a part of the Test squad, the 34-year-old will be away from national duties for a while. Meanwhile, the right-handed batter went in nostalgia on Thursday (December 23) and shared a picture of his old bats, which he found in his father’s shed.

Finch mentioned that he used these bats during his childhood days. “Just found my old bats from when I was a kid in dads shed!! What was your favourite old bat?” read the caption of the post. As Finch also posted a query in caption, the comment section got flooded in no time with fans sharing the memory of their favourite bats.

Aaron Finch scored fiery half-century on BBL return

Meanwhile, Finch had stepped down as Melbourne Renegades captain ahead of Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22, giving the charge to Nic Maddinson. Owing to his knee injury, he had to give the first three matches of the competition a miss. However, he returned in the fourth fixture and slammed a quick-fire 68 against Perth Scorchers, which eventually went in vain.

Meanwhile, Finch had stated that he had knee problems during the T20 World Cup as well. “[The recovery] was just hampered by the World Cup. We pushed really hard to get back for that and it was a risk well worth taking, but it just probably needed a little bit more time,” Finch was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

“From the end of the World Cup to now has been a good, solid month of rehab, which has helped. I’ll hit a lot of balls in the next couple of days and I’m feeling good at the moment,” he added.
