India captain Virat Kohli turned 31 on Tuesday and as expected he was flooded with wishes as soon as the clock showed 12 on Monday night. Starting from present cricketers, former cricketers, celebrities to fans, almost everyone related to the game made sure to wish the modern-day great on his special day. So how can one expect his good friend AB de Villiers to not come up with something special?
Kohli and De Villiers’ strong friendship is known to everyone. The two have been best of friends ever since the former South Africa cricketer was signed up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011. Since then, their friendship has only grown stronger. In this year’s IPL, Kohli and De Villiers’ families hanged out together too.
Royal Challengers Bangalore shared a clip in which De Villiers along with other members of the franchise wished Kohli. De Villiers not only wished Kohli but also said he is hopeful of seeing his IPL skipper lifting the trophy next season. The others who wished Kohli were Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Mike Hesson, Simon Katich and Shankar Basu.

Well, Kohli would be desperate to lift the IPL trophy too. Royal Challengers are arguably the biggest underachievers in the history of the league. They have made it to the final of the league three times but ended up losing on all the occasions. Their last appearance in the final came in 2016 when Kohli nearly scored 1,000 runs.
Virat Kohli to return to action soon
Virat Kohli is currently enjoying some much-needed break from international cricket. The India star has been playing non-stop cricket since the start of the year. In his absence, Rohit Sharma is leading the team in the ongoing T20I series against Bangladesh. India did miss Kohli’s batting and captaincy in the first game as they lost the match by seven wickets.
The captain will return to action when both the teams will lock horns in a two-match Test series later this month. It will be a historic series as it will mark both the team’s debut in the day-night Test. The second Test of the series will be played under lights at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
