AB de Villiers in line to make international comeback if he continues to play good cricket: Mark Boucher
It will be interesting to see AB de back in the international arena with T20 World Cup scheduled in India next year.
South African head coach Mark Boucher has revealed that the former Proteas batsman AB de Villiers is in international team selection discussions and he might make a comeback in international cricket if he continues to play good cricket in franchise leagues. Most recently, AB had a good IPL with the willow though his team failed to win the trophy.
Boucher, while speaking at a press conference, stated that Mr. 360 was in selection talks before COVID-19. Interestingly, there were reports that AB was interested in playing the 2019 World Cup but in the end, his name didn’t appear in the main squad and the comeback story came to a halt for time being.
“AB was in discussions before COVID, he is always in discussions when he is playing good cricket, to be honest with you. Going forward I haven’t had a discussion with him at all, he has been playing in the IPL. He had a very good IPL too,” Boucher told as quoted by News 18.
AB de Villiers has played 228 ODIs, scoring 9577 runs at an average of 53.5. He also represented Proteas in 78 T20Is with 1672 runs at an average of 26.12. AB also average above 50 in Test cricket scoring 8765 runs in 114 matches. It will be interesting to see AB de back in the international arena with T20 World Cup scheduled in India next year.
I didn’t even know I had COVID-19: Mark Boucher
A few days back, South African cricketers assembled for their upcoming series against England. Mark Boucher and two others from the South African contingent were infected by COVID-19 and were isolated from the rest of the team. Speaking about the same, Boucher stated that he didn’t even know that he had the disease.
“Sitting alone in a room for six or seven days is very tough, I didn’t even know I had it, I felt a little down for one or two days. I had been throwing down to some players in the nets and felt some aches and pains,” Boucher added.
South African team will take on England in three T20Is and three ODIs starting from November 27. All six games will be played in Cape Town and Paarl.
