AB de Villiers opens up on his IPL future

The 34-years-old is not playing international cricket anymore.

The sensation of South African cricket AB de Villiers shocked the cricketing fraternity by retiring from international cricket in May. Nobody saw it coming as he was playing the best cricket of his career after making a comeback earlier this year in the Tests against India. He was also certain about playing in the World Cup next year but is retirement left his IPL future in doldrums as well. However, De Villiers himself has now opened up on if he will feature for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in future.

The 34-year-old is the heart and soul of the franchise ever since he has been associated with them. He was in great form this season and won many matches single-handedly for RCB while tearing apart the opposition’s bowling attack. Though his Superman-esque catch in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was the most talked about during the tournament and was touted as one of the best catches of IPL ever.

Will he play?

In an interview to iol.co.za, AB de Villiers clarified his future plans in which he is also keen to help the youngsters while plying his trade for Titans in domestic and RCB in the IPL. The dynamic batsman stressed that he will continue playing in the T20 extravaganza for next few years.

I will keep on playing IPL for a few years, and I would like to play for the Titans, and help some of the youngsters. But there are no set plans. I haven’t been able to say that for a long time,” he said. De Villiers had already made it clear that he will continue playing for his domestic team. But he never gave any clarity about his participation in the IPL. This should come as a delighting news for his millions of fans in India.

Moreover, De Villiers also revealed that he has a few offers from various teams but didn’t speak in detail about the same. “There are some offers on the table from around the world, but it will be nice to wake up and wonder what to do; to be normal,” he smiled while saying.
